I have been a furniture restorer for over 35 years and have extensive experience in sympathetic antique and contemporary furniture restoration. Over that time I have enjoyed restoring many different types of furniture from many different eras, including, the increasingly popular Art Deco period.
I offer a complete furniture conservation and restoration service for fine period antiques and classic modern furniture. I also offer an ongoing care-taking / upkeep service to keep your furniture in top condition.
Restoration and Conservation Services
FINE CABINET WORK
This includes the repair/replacement of damaged or missing components. Repairs to veneered and damaged surfaces using period and appropriate woods, using construction methods suitable for the period of the piece.
MARQUETRY
The cutting of fine small designs in different veneers, brass cutting in replacing missing pieces as required to match original.
POLISHING
The preservation of existing finishes from different periods, with a consideration for patina and colour. The subtle removal of blemishes, bruises and marks as well as the cleaning and reviving of worn surfaces using traditional materials and methods, together with the restoration of hand painted finishes.
CLOCKS & BAROMETERS
The restoration of clock and barometer cases involves much of the same principles as applied to antique furniture.
I have a comprehensive collection of reference books to ensure designs are sympathetically reproduced.
PICTURE & MIRROR FRAME REPAIRS
The undertaking of frame repairs are competently carried out, including glazing repairs as necessary.
HANDLES, FITTINGS, LOCKS & KEYS
These are items that frequently need attention or replacement. I am able to offer a diverse range of differing materials to suit the repair or replacement as necessary; including wood, bone and ivory substitute.
WOOD TURNING
Chair legs, feet, spindles and handles on carcase furniture can all be replaced by replicating the original in a complementary wood and polish to match.
FURNITURE FRAME REPAIRS
The undertaking of frame repairs to the highest standard, thus enabling myself or the client to pass the frame onto the upholsterer in preparation for an upholstery course project.

Annual maintenance and care of furniture.
